WASHINGTON POLICE ASSASSIN WAS PREVIOUSLY PARDONED BY HUCKABEE
Huckabee’s bad judgement has come full circle. Apparently, his judgement on clemency while governor was soooo bad that the people of Arkansas actually considered amending the state constitution in order to curtail his ill-informed promiscuous grants of clemency to violent criminals.
Huckabee must never be allowed anywhere near a Republican presidential primary, much less the presidency!
Hat tip to Ace of Spades for the heads up.

Leggett – spot-on. On a related note, Todd Starnes from Fox News just Tweeted that he will be sitting down with Huckabee to get “his side” of things. Should be interesting to see the spin on this and how the Huckster can possibly explain this.

To follow up – there was also the case of Huckabee’s efforts to free the rapist Wayne Drummond:

As for the recent debacle, Huckabee has, preliminary, stated that he (Huckabee) is not to blame; rather, the “system” is to blame:

Hucka-bye bye.
I agree. I listened to Huckabee’s “Huckabee Report” this morning and, unless I am mistaken, he put the full blame on the parole board and never mentioned the fact that he, as Governor, signed the clemency.
His love affair with some of the “bleeding heart” tendencies of the left has always troubled me, though I admire other aspects of his conservatism.
But, as I already stated, I agree. Pass the butter, he’s toast.
Huck always struck me as soft. He stopped “digging is grave with a knife and fork” but it looks like he managed to do so with a fountain pen.
Huckabee’s statement following this crime is even more shameful.
I was never much of a fan, but Huckabee, as a political figure, is now completely dead to me.
Huck’s time in the sun has long since past.
To his credit, Huckabee kept McCain, Romney, and the national GOP honest on life issues during the 2008 presidential campaign, and, quite frankly, that’s all most of his supporters (including yours truly) really expected from him.
But whatever the merits of his candidacy then, he’s done. On that much, we all agree.
Was this guy related to Willie Horton?
Huckabee doesn’t have a robust understanding of original sin. That’s why, when it comes to Protestant politicians, give me a Calvinist who once served in the Marines anytime.
Huckabee has been written off many times it seems. I really don’t see this as fatal to him. I think not going back to Arkansas and running for Senate was his big mistake.
This is indeed tragic and it is bound to happen when a Governor decides to use the pardon power beyond making sure the turkey is not executed. The real scandal and one that is not poliicaly correct in conservative circles to talk about is much more harm is done by not using the pardon power enough.
I am not sure Huckabee is a bleeding Heart or at least has that term is used in a negative sense.
While it is vogue to call Huckabee a “Faux Conservative” because of his numerous sins in raising gas taxes to build roads and such for a State that experience vast growth under his watch people should be aware many people belive like Huckabee. Not all conservatives are “Club for Growthers”
So while it fun I suppose to excommunicate various strains of the conservative movement it is still not a good way to engage people.
“I really don’t see this as fatal to him.”
Sorry to disagree with you, JH, but there is no way Huckabee can overcome this one. Four police officers are dead at the hands of a guy whose sentence Huckabee commuted over the strenuous objections of prosecutors. What’s worse, Huckabee seems unable to take responsibility for the role he played in the murderer’s early release. Politically, that’s about as bad an indictment on one’s judgment as it can get.
Stick a fork in him.
