Sully on PBXVI

All I can say is, “wow.”

First, Sully links to the fedster in a positive way, and now he is praising the Holy Father.

Perhaps I should take it easy on ol’ Andrew for a spell. Of late, he has earned some degree of credit with me.

  1. JohnInMontgomery Says:

Wow is right. Great link, Feddie. Thanks. If Sully didn’t totally define himself by his sexuality, he’d be ok.

  2. John in Nashville Says:

How many contributors to and readers of this blog define themselves, at least in part, by their anti-sexuality?

  3. JohnInMontgomery Says:

    Huh?

  4. unhhyphenatedconservative Says:

    Feddie,
It seemed to me damantion by faint praise, by even mentioning extremism in Islam with “extremism” in Christianity.

  5. Jeff Miller Says:

When he talks about religious extremism he also said “its spread within Christianity is deeply worrying.” So he basically equates jihadists with Christians that are involved politically. His view of religious extremism among “Christianists” is for example someone who supported the Federal Marriage Amendment. Sullivans view of religious extremists withing Christianity would be mostly at odds with the Pope.

  6. Nick Says:

Agreed. This is damning with praise.

  7. Leroy Pancake Says:

Let me get this straight… When you consult the teachings of your religion and your deeply held spiritual principles to form a public policy position that concurs with Sullivan’s(on “torture”), he praises you and happily links to your blog. But when you consult the teachings of your religion and your deeply held spiritual principles to come to a public policy position that Sullivan does not totally agree with (overturning Roe or banning gay marriage) you are a “Christianist” (implicitly not a Christian) who has illegitimately and menacingly introduced religion into the supposedly pristinely secular realm of politics, thereby threatening all of our rights and the very existence of our democracy. I would not be so quick to give Sullivan any credit. Sullivan claims take a principled stand against any significant role of religion in politics; in reality there are no principles involved- he is just against the involvement of any form of religion that he disagrees with in the political realm.

  8. Steve Dillard Says:

    Leroy and others-

All fair points. One can only pray that Mr. Sullivan will eventually see the light.
