Bowl Projections

It looks like ND will be heading to the Rose Bowl or the Sugar Bowl. My guess is that it will be the latter against the SEC champion.

Congrats Steve. Looks like Notre Dame gets to hoist the real hardware this year. Do you think that W will personally deliver the Commander in Chief Trophy to Charlie? Or do you think that Osama will deliver the trophy and personally congratulate the Golden Domers for kicking the Air Force’s tail in on Veterans’ Day Weekend?

  2. Rob Says:

Sometimes its really hard to be charitible…but how does anyone think that that line of argument works??? Regardless of who ND played for 3 games, their overall strength of schedule sits at #19 in the nation! Thats harder than most of the Top 10 teams, including Ohio State. Who cares that they played the “cupcakes” of the services academy??

Everyone has their cupcakes (OSU had bowling green, northern illinois, illinois; Michigan had ball state and among others; Texas had Sam Houston State among others; Arkanas played South East Missouri State and Louisiana-Monroe.) How many of those opponents are going to bowl games? At least Navy had a winning record and is playing in a bowl.

Steve has said it and I have said it: after USC, ND is clearly not an elite team in college football. But they are certainly a very good team; a good team with a 10-2 record with both losses coming against the #2 & #3 teams in the nation. How is that something to be ashamed of?

If you dislike ND, fine. If you don’t think they are elite, then that is something I agree with. But don’t bring out the rhetorical BS about the service academies when mediocre teams make up a significant part of EVERY team’s schedule.

“Steve has said it and I have said it: after USC, ND is clearly not an elite team in college football.”

Some of us knew enough about college football to make this statement BEFORE the USC game, but I guess it had to take a beating at the hands of USC for Steve to see that I was right. Apology accepted.

    :)
