Random Thought on Obama

There’s a whole “Underpants Gnomes” vibe to the Barack Obama phenomenon:

Step 1: Elect Obama

Step 2: ?

Step 3: Utopia!

3 Rebel Yells to “Random Thought on Obama”

  1. Sage Says:

Yes, precisely Feddie. I actually find that this kind of thing is rampant, and not confined to the left. There is also an underpants gnomes quality to the whole “democracy will defeat terrorists” thing.

    Step 1: Hold Elections
    Step 2: ?
    Step 3: Victory!

    Or perhaps:

    Step 1: Overthrow Saddam
    Step 2: ?
    Step 3: Liberal Democracy!

But really, the whole Obama thing is worse, since it doesn’t even have a hint of theory to back it up. The idea that installing a radical, hyper-partisan left-wing minority (with seething a hostility to the historical majority culture he is meant to govern) will somehow “unite” the country and “transcend” its divisions is counterintuitive and absurd on its face. It’s not just that the intermediate step is missing. It’s that the first step actively undermines the supposed end goal.

  2. Feddie Says:

Actually, this Patrick’s random thought; but I do endorse it fwiw. :)

  3. Joe Says:

How Hillary can still win (you will like the nice Southern Appeal twist in the plan):

So batsh!t crazy, it might just work.
