“Community Organizing” is to politics what “Olive Oil Business” was to the Corleone family

From Brian Faughnan at the Weekly Standard blog:

Pro-Obama Community Organizer Group Involved in (More) Voter Fraud

From the Detroit Free Press:

Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families.

The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has a large voter registration program among its many social service programs. ACORN’s Michigan branch, based in Detroit, has enrolled 200,000 voters statewide in recent months, mostly with the use of paid, part-time employees.

“There appears to be a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications,” said Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for the Michigan Secretary of State’s Office. “And it appears to be widespread.”

As Ed Morrissey points out, this is the group that Barack Obama trusts to conduct his get out the vote efforts. They have been implicated in voter registration scandals in Washington and Missouri, as well as New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Their director recently sought to cover up embezzlement from ACORN by his own brother.

Your post means the use of a Harvard education to get poor people register to vote is equal of the Italian mafia and killing people.

I suppose the Republikans would prefer if black people did not vote.

Just like them good ole days. Or maybe we can ask Massa’s permissun to vote.

I think a more fit title for the post would be “More racism from a once great writer.”

You fail mention that the Michigan Secretary State that is your source is 30 year long Republikan who openly supports John MacCain.

Honesty does not matter here right?

  2. Honesty does matter here. We are SouthernAppeal, not ACORN.

Can we all please stop slamming community organizers?

Have you ever enrolled your kid in a local sports league? Who do you think put that together?

Have any of you ever volunteered for some local park clean up or painting some old lady’s house? Who do you think put that together?

Our communities, our nation and the world would be a far worse place if it weren’t for community organizers.

    Give it a rest.

I AM FROM CHICAGO, AND I HAVE SEEN THE DEVASTATION CAUSED THERE BY GROUPS LIKE ACORN…. INCLUDING HAVING LOOKED INTO VOTER FRAUD THAT CONSISTENTLY TAKES PLACE THERE UNDER THE AUSPICES OF ACORN. IT EXISTS IN ASTRONOMICAL NUMBERS. IS THE PORK MONEY FOR USE IN COMM. AID, OR TO PAY BACK FOR FRAUD THAT GOT OBAMA ELECTED, OR TO PAY THEIR LEGAL FEES TO DEFEND THEMSELVES AGAINST INDEFENSIBLE ACTS? WE WILL SEE OBAMA’S TRUE COLORS BECOME MORE APPARENT IN THE FIRST 100 DAYS, WHEN HE TAKES THE COUNTRY DOWN WITHIN THAT TIME.
