BARACK OBAMA WAS A MEMBER OF A SOCIALIST PARTY
Apparently, Barack Obama was a member of an organization called the “New Party,” a subsidiary of The Democratic Socialists of America. Below you can see documents from these organizations establishing Obama’s connection and membership.
Hat tip to The Corner, Powerline and Politically Drunk on Power for getting this information out

This is news? With federal takeovers of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG, and Lord knows what else with Paulson’s $700 billion blank check, we are already a socialist nation. It’s happening on Bush’s watch, with Bush’s blessing. I’d say at this point, Bush’s socialist credentials far outweigh Obama’s.
Yeah, I’m not sure that there is any real punch to this. Anyone who doesn’t know Obama’s leanings by this point is blind. But, if you’re desperate to reaffirm what we already know about him: http://www.newparty.org/.
This is where it would help if McCain were a lawyer; it’s absolutely necessary to expose Obama’s lack of credibility. Obama has no record to which to compare his statements, and the record of his past associations is being dismissed as irrelevant. But these past associations and also his statements are very relevant to his (lack of) credibility.
Once one ceases to believe the disingenous statements (i.e., lies) that he delivers so smoothly and effortlessly, his promises regarding the economy and other issues will be exposed as the worthless demagoguery they are. Like a discredited witness, Obama himself will be irrelevant.
*disingenuous
Joel,
Don’t mean to hijack the post but I know you are ‘Bama fan. Check out Frank Deford’s take on the SEC.

It doesn’t appear that anyone has yet made the connection that the economic crisis that we are facing today is SEVEN (7) years from the 9/11 attacks. The 9/11 attacks caused great damage and were no doubt planned extensively. The attacks, however were carried off with ‘box cutters’. Not heavy attillery, not guns, but ‘box cutters’. The Bush administration ignored Clinton adminstration warnings of the attacks. Now seven years later, Bush and McCain and the Republicans are ignoring the warning signs again. While the McCain camp is increasingly trying to tie Obama with an outdated, ancient ‘domestic’ terrorist (Ayers), the economic terrorist plan is unfolding. Bin Laden and Al Queda are computer literates. They post all their information online. McCain (perhaps due to his war injuries as he proclaims or perhaps due to just not caring) is not computer savvy. This is important. He is ill equipped to handle the next terrorist attack. Al Queda will not attack US soil. Let me repeat this, the next attack will not be buildings. The attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentegon, however horrific was not the end all attack by Al Queda. It was meant to start the ball rolling to where we are today, spending endless dollars in a war that has no ending. The next terriorist attack was meant for our economy. John McCain with his association with Rick Davis (a domestic economic terrorist) is helping Al Queda achieve their objective.
We are in a 21st century war. Republicans by resorting to old school ‘smear’ tactics are increasingly putting the country at risk by not focusing our attention on the economic terriorist attack that just happened. Obama needs to stress this point. Our economy is our last frontier. It’s our standing World Trade Center. It’s where the terrorist war will be fought. I believe in all sincerity that the lobbyists and the big banks should all be investigated for any ties, directly or indirectly with any foreign operatives. This may sound conspiratorial, but it’s a necessary step. We must not get caught sleeping again. Terrorists are attacking our economy. Republicans, wanting to win at any cost are ignoring that. Republicans are ‘backward’ thinkers. There will be no more bombings of buildings. There will be attacks on our banks, our computer systems, our cell phones, communications systems, the like. That’s what Al Queda will plan. That’s what we should be looking out for. Senator Obama, please make the connection to Economic Terrorism. It’s a matter of National Security
Was there anything in Curt B’s post above that was not a DNC talking point?
Yeah, and since McCain can’t type because of his war injuries, we can assume that he thinks that computers are unimportant.
At least McCain only employs ONE “domestic economic terrorist”. Sheesh…
It’s true that the terrorists are trying to attack our economy of course. Not sure how this fits into the DNC talking points. With Obama, the terrorists can relax; Obama will do their economic destruction for them.
If the Rev didn’t send voters runnin’ to the hills, this won’t make any difference. Most Obamaniacs wouldn’t even know how to define a socialist. Thinking about it, this just might solidify his base that much more.
I guess we have really fallen along way as a society when a presidential candidate’s membership in a socialist party doesn’t raise an eyebrow.
What was that about the end of freedom only being one generation away? Welcome to serfdom.

Crankycon – to answer your question, I don’t know. I didn’t get much past the “Bush and McCain and the Republicans are ignoring the warning signs again.”
First, what warning signs? Second, I tend to tune out mindless screaming. But I’m an equal opportunity bigot. I tune out everyone who does this. Are you listening Hannity? What about you O’Reilly? Frankin??? Hello..???
Curt,
You said:
“I believe in all sincerity that the lobbyists and the big banks should all be investigated for any ties, directly or indirectly with any foreign operatives.”
Would that investigation extend to contributions to presidential campaigns? If so I’m afraid your guy might be in trouble…
Power to the people! I am SHOCKED that our Dear Leader is a also a socialist!
“This is where it would help if McCain were a lawyer; it’s absolutely necessary to expose Obama’s lack of credibility”
Uhh – what do lawyers know about credibility??
Socialist, Rezko, ACORN, Ayers, and now possibly trying to sway the Iraqi government to persuade the Buah Administration to pull out earlier.
What will bring down Obama?
Is the mainstream media continue to protect their “hero”?
“…and now possibly trying to sway the Iraqi government to persuade the Buah Administration to pull out earlier.”
This is false and has been repudiated by Republicans and administration officials who were present at the meeting.
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/undermining-mcc.html
The original “story” was peddled by the same guy who falsely claimed the Iranian Parliament passed dress code laws.
“Is the mainstream media continue to protect their ‘hero’?”
I’m afraid the biggest problem is that most people just don’t care that much. Another problem is that, like it or not, Ayers really is a respected academic and activist who has authored over a dozen books, some of the used as education texts, and has worked extensively with both liberal and conservative politicians, educators and foundation board members, in Chicago and around the country. People aren’t going to throw him (and themselves) under McCain’s bus just because he’s down in the polls.
Which is worse for our society – socialism where at least some of the health care problems that plague Americans can be at least mitigated; or,
rampant, greedy, top-dogs take all (and the walls come a tumblin’ down) capitalism? We people on the bottom ladder wrungs are strainfully and painfully readjusting to the what has been wrought by those greedy ogres while bank accounts in the Bahamas, Switzerland, etc., are strutted and gorged with monies railroaded from Wall Street!!
As a retired Air Force veteran I scream “Is this what my military comrades and I were fighting for??”
“Heaven forbid!” I could say at one time. But not now!!!
Y. Roger Gremie,
If you want to be able to own two cars, a large home, vacation to europe each year, eat out in nice places, buy nice clothes… yeah you aint gonna get it under socialism.
If you live a simple life and have Jesus in your life, you have no want for anything.
Thank you for serving in our military.
As for me, I’ve lost everything three years ago. But I lived simple and have solace in my faith. Now that I’ve worked hard to get back to where I was, I certainly have learned the joy of living simply.
So reading your screed of lies really doesn’t reach me at all because this bottom feeder is quite content living down here among the poor because I want not with God in my life.
Grover Gardner,
This just came out moments before your inaccurate reply to my posting.
I’m sure the mainstream media will roll over this one as well.
Obama telling the Iraqi leadership to delay their negotiations with the Bush administration until the Obama people come into office.

Wow!
Obama violated the Logan Act here.
This is a felony with up to three years in prison.
Maybe an orange prison jump suit is in order here for Senator Obama?
It’s a rehash the same story, except for a new accusation that he said something more specific in private phone call to Zebari, which cannot be confirmed. The White House backed up Obama’s version of the original meeting, which was extensively reported and vetted in the media. I don’t think there’s much of a story here, and certainly no jumpsuit for Obama, much as you may wish that for whatever reasons.
Grover,
You said:

Respected activist!?!?! Is your moral compass that skewed. Ayers is a terrorist no better than Timothy McVeigh. He has said that he wished his group did more.
Your post was a disgusting example of moral equivalence. I thought you were better than that.
Joel, it has nothing to do with my moral compass. I’ve never met Ayers, I’ve never read his books and I have no interest in defending his writings, sayings or activities. It’s just a plain fact that he has earned respect in national academic circles as well as local Chicago politics. His books on education are used as college texts. He’s worked with very powerful people on both sides of the spectrum. The Annenberg fund, the MacArthur foundation, Republican and Democratic politicians in Chicago–many of these people have already come to Ayers’ defense. They’re not about to let themselves get trashed by virtue of their associations with him. Whatever crimes he may have committed in the past, whatever offensive things he might say now, the fact remains that he has led a productive, non-violent and “respectable” life for over thirty years and has become embedded in local Chicago politics as well as the national education scene. For these and other reasons, the story is failing to generate the kind of outrage you wish it would.
The last thing most voters want to do, especially right now, is fight the battles of the 60′s all over again. I could well be wrong, but that’s my perception.
Fox News Poll today:
“There has been some discussion of Barack Obama’s relationship with the former radical activist William Ayers. Because Ayers is linked to plots to bomb the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol in the 1970s, and because Ayres recently said he wished he had done more, some people say Obama’s association with Ayers calls into question his judgment. Does Obama’s connection with Ayers make you less likely to vote for him for president or does it not really make a difference to your vote?
“Less Likely 32%
“No Difference 61%”
Grover,
Sometimes all a majority means is that all the idiots are on one side.
“Sometimes all a majority means is that all the idiots are on one side.”
Yes, but which side?
32% being less likely to vote for him is actually good, and people don’t even know about Wright and Rezko and his socialist party ties yet.
It all depends who the 32% are. If they’re all people that already were voting for McCain anyway, then it’s useless, but if 25% of them are undecided voters, it would be important. The data is meaningless as is.
“…and people don’t even know about Wright and Rezko and his socialist party ties yet.”
These things have already been discussed, ad nauseum, months and months ago. Most people probably know but don’t care.
“It all depends who the 32% are.”
Well, let’s just see.
http://www.foxnews.com/projects/pdf/101008_foxpoll.pdf
Two-thirds of Independents say is doesn’t matter. Even a third of Republicans agree. Now, that doesn’t indicate who is undecided, per se. But the numbers would appear to weigh against the notion that Ayers is or could be a major issue.
Particularly striking is the fact that more people think McCain is hiding from his background than Obama is, 41% to 26%.
