Jackie and Dunlap discuss Clinton’s WVA win.
Blackadder has the details in this humorous post.
I own the bobblehead in question.
Is this something I need to confess? ![]()
Update: For some interesting observations from the Catholic blogosphere on Colbert, see this post by College Catholic.
When Bobby met with reporters this week and talked about why things haven’t worked out with his son Jeff as offensive coordinator, he actually blamed the reporters and their Internet habits. “Because you all ignited it,” he said of Jeff’s resignation. “You listen to eBay and e-mail and all that junk, and you all kept writing about it, and that fans it and makes it grow and grow, and it becomes a cancer. That’s why.”
This is pretty true to life. Gotta love the jury system.
The dems’ nefarious agenda for the next two years has been exposed!
Big firms often promise great work-life balance–yeah right.
Anyway here is a pitiful clip from a Kirkland & Ellis on the benefits of technology and how it allows associates to work once they get home to family.
And here is a clip from Anonymous Law Firm, which is probably what Kirkland & Ellis really wanted to say.
Not to pick on Kirkland & Ellis–it is the same deal for pretty much any big firm.
This one directed at Dem candidate for Texas governor, Chris Bell (aka Mr. Way-too-liberal-for-Texas-guy), by incumbent Rick Perry (aka Governor Goodhair).
The New York Magazine has an interesting (and lengthy) profile of my favorite funny man, Stephen Colbert.
Professor Kerr has the details on Hahvahd’s plans to do just that. Now, I am well aware that the Hahvahd folks could care less what some country lawyer thinks about this idea, but fwiw I am all for it.
I do, however, have a few minor suggestions that I would like to offer up for consideration. Why not break the first year of law school down in the following manner:
First Semester:
The Constitutional Debates: Examining the debates from the federal and state constitutional conventions.
Constitutional text, structure, and history
It’s not in there!: Imagined constitutional rights, penumbras, judicial activism, and the “Prego” Constitution.
Statutory Interpretation & Textualism
Federalism & States’ Rights
Second Semester:
Originalism and the jurisprudence of Justice Clarence Thomas
Ignoring legislative history, the common law, and stare decisis
Justice Kennedy: Worst supreme court justice ever?
The Bork nomination and the politicization of the judicial nomination process by the legal left
The Nondelegation doctrine
Congrats to my friend Jonathan Hooks, who made today’s OpinionJournal “Best of the Web” with the following quip concerning the voting controversy in Mexico:
Life Imitates ‘Saturday Night Live’
“It was revealed this week that a shadow government consisting of 75 senior officials has been living and working in secret bunkers in the event the nation’s capital is attacked. This shadow government is not to be confused with the pretend government that Al Gore has been running in his basement for the last year.”–Tina Fey, “Saturday Night Live,” March 2, 2002
“Felipe Calderon became president-elect of Mexico on Tuesday, two months after disputed elections. . . . [Loser Andres Manuel Lopez] Obrador . . . barely made mention of the impending decision Monday during his nightly address to followers in the capital’s historic central plaza, the Zocalo. Instead, he focused on an upcoming national convention of his supporters to decide if he should declare himself head of a parallel government. Members of that government would then go on to vote on a series of government reforms.”–Associated Press, Sept. 5, 2006
(By the way, it is good to be back on SA after a long hiatus.)
…and a VLOG to prove it. I guess you could put this in the category of things to do in seminary when you’re bored. These are not your parents’ Bible stories and you need not be a theology student to get a chuckle out of this site. One of the creative contributors to the VLOG, Paul Hannum, died this month at age 45 from surgical complications. If you’re new to The Real Old Testament, drop in here for an overview.
