Please say a prayer for Attorney General Mukasey.

He has taken ill again, and could sure use our prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with Senator Kennedy, his family, and friends.

And I echo the sentiments expressed by my co-bloggers at RedState.

Today is the 172 anniversary of the Battle of San Jacinto. On this date in 1836 General Sam Houston led the forces of Texas against General Antonio López de Santa Anna’s Mexican forces. The battle lasted less than twenty minutes and resulted in a decisive victory for Texas. Lets all raise a toast to General Houston and his brave men.

Oh, and offer a prayer that their descendants finally learn to do Bar-B-Q right. It is PORK not beef.

My baby brother just finished basic training with the Air Force.  While he will not be stationed in harm’s way as far as we know, it reminds me of how many brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and loved ones are.  So if you could say an extra prayer for them and for my brother, so that he will have the skills and compassion needed to care for them–he is a doctor–I’d appreciate it.

Cardinal George, the Archbishop of Chicago will undergo surgery for bladder cancer on Thursday morning (July 27th).  He’s expected to be in surgery for about 5 hours, and his bladder will be removed during the surgery. 

Cardinal George is a wonderful, holy man — a teacher, a leader, and a man who has poured himself out for the Church.  Could you please put a notice on Southern Appeal asking for prayers on his behalf?
